LINC is the newest affinity group is open to United Way donors ages 22 to 30 who are passionate about volunteering alongside their peers, developing new skills and getting involved to build a stronger, more vibrant community.

The Young Professionals Presidents' Council met at the Greater Columbus Arts Council to learn more about their many initiatives. This group is organized by The United Way of Central Ohio and funded by the City of Columbus.

We started the morning with an Energizer called 'This or That?' 

Everyone starts out on a magic school bus (between the ropes) and then we stopped at various imaginary towns and villages. As we visited these magical lands, each person had to choose which direction they wanted to go.

We started the morning with an Energizer that we call Tinker Toy Topics. Everyone grabbed a few sticks and then the topics were revealed. People formed groups of three and began making connections as they introduced themselves.

A group of 22 students in 4th and 5th grade. In a word this lesson was focused on teaching perseverance.

The User Experience team from Nationwide Insurance invited Eureka Games to play at Woodhaven Farm. 

After a delicious meal, a visit to the lake, and a walk around the farm...

It was game time, it was time to build Tall Towers. 
First we formed two groups of five people and received an identical set of tinker toys and were moved to separate rooms.

The goal: Build identical towers by using all of the resources provided.

The challenge: Only method of communication is via two-way radios.

Vue Columbus hosted the Columbus chapter of Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association Internationa (HSMAI) and asked Eureka Games to lead a group activity.

As we prepared to play Blind Polygon the players were split into three groups: 

• Able to See and Touch the rope, yet unable to Speak
• Able to Speak and Touch the rope, yet unable to See
• Able to Speak and See, yet unable to Touch the rope

A group of project managers from Nationwide Children's Hospital invited Eureka Games to play. It turns out they are all Super Heroes. Needless to say, we had a lot of fun.

The Young Professional Presidents' Council meeting invited the Eureka Games to play a game that challenged players to think about diversity and seeing things from another point of view. 

We visited the tinker toy buffet and did a few rounds of "What Goes Where?" Then we discussed how although we are all the same, are also all different. Thanks to Mary Connolly and The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center for hosting.

Team Effectiveness Event with Mountview Christian Preschool Staff

The staff played Eureka Games at the Spring 2014 in-service.

We realized that we all had super powers after the Super Hero Name Game.

Team Effectiveness with Insurance Intermediaries Inc. - Midwest Team

45-minute session focused on Team Effectiveness.

We played "This or That?" to get to know one another a little better.

Then we discussed the four temperaments in a format based on well known animals, the otter, lion, golden retriever, and beaver as described by Gary Smalley

Then the group was challenged to tell a story using the pages from "Harold and the Purple Crayon"

The Young Professional Presidents' Council meeting invited the Eureka Games to play a game that challenged players to be active and to think outside the box.

Team Building with Sales and Marketing from Elmer's Inc.

The Field Sales Team and Marketing Team of Elmer's Inc. came together for a off-site meeting at Sparkspace. The Eureka Games was invited to facilitate an experience to kick-off the week with energizers and activities that challenged them to rethink the way they think.

Team Building Event with The Columbus Jewish Federation - Young Adult Advisory Board

The Young Adult Division of the Columbus Jewish Federation has several committees that serve the community (social, spiritual, outreach, etc). This event was the first meeting of the new Advisory Board, which brought the Chair from each committee. We ate dinner and played games and team building activities that helped them rethink their leadership style - with some laughs along the way.

We had an awesome opportunity to lead breakout sessions at Ohio's Annual Statewide Education Conference.

The User Experience team met at a local park for their team off-site meeting and some team building. 

A wide variety of backyard games were provided by The Eureka Games. The goal for this part of the day was to relax and have fun with coworkers. Games included: Ladder Ball, Corn Hole, Bocce Ball, Kickball, Group Juggle, Lycra Tube, Giant Jenga.

Each year the Mentor Church of Christ hosts a Youth Rally to encourage and challenge middle and high school students to live out their beliefs as the new school year moves into high gear.

Team Building Event with New Directions Young Professionals

The New Directions Young Professionals dedicated part of their annual strategy meeting to improving their communication and collaboration skills. 

This team was already high-functioning and in just one hour they were able to identify a few roadblocks that everyone agreed would make 2014 much more productive.

We played on Columbus Commons open green space on a sunny Sunday afternoon.

Team Building Event with Manta: Digital Scavenger Hunt

Manta held their annual sales meeting in Columbus this year. The managers wanted to include a team-building activity to help their team members have fun and connect.

MobileXpeditions designed an amazing experience that allows team members to compete in a digital scavenger hunt known as fōnhunt using their smart phone's browser or texting on a regular phone. 

MobileXpeditions invited The Eureka Games to facilitate an energizer and debrief discussion. The scavenger hunt ended with a happy hour and simple debrief discussion. 

The group had a great time and laughed as they shared their stories.

A total of 24 first- and second-year medical Residents from Grant Family Medicine Residency played Eureka Games to improve communication and discuss conflict management skills.
